Running after c section

I was a regular runner before pregnancy and ran until roughly 27 weeks (although mostly run/walk by then). I know every recovery is different but just been looking at some races next year and intrigued when people started running again post c section.

I started about 9 weeks but had to do couch to 5k which is what my physio said when I went to her for a post partum check. I’m 5 months PP next sat and have been running 5k (slower than before) once a week for 3 weeks. X

I feel like I could run now at 25 week PP. It's just finding the time and somewhere I can run with my baby in the pram, as my old routes all around roads in the village. Kind of need a decent park run or race track

I started running again around 8 weeks (started yoga at 6 weeks), took a few months to build my stamina back up and distance but at 5m pp I ran a half marathon in a decent time xx

@Clairey thank you I will definitely start with something like couch to 5k

@Sarah wow 10k is my max would love to do a half one day 🤞

@Helen luckily my local parkrun is buggy friendly so would like to try that

@Claire you’ll get there! Before baby I was a big half marathoner so that helped and like you I ran until mid trimester 3. Have a look at park runs, you can take the pram and speed walk/jog to get your stamina back up without pushing too hard too fast xx

@Sarah funny enough I was a crazy parkrun tourist until 27 weeks so want to finish my tourism streak 🤣

I'm not a runner, but I do play football and I went back to training 3 months after my c section, took it slow the first few weeks but now 6 months pp and I'm nearly back to where I was fitness wise 😄
