C section massage

At what week do you start? I can’t even touch my scar, can barely look at it. Does anyone else feel like this towards their scar? The whole thing was so traumatic that I feel like I’ve got a complex about it now

I only started 9 weeks I do get it I was same till recently but was suprised didn't feel that bad reckon if started any earlier would feel scar more I didn't look in mirror either which helped but do get it still cant look at mine as just reminds me but reckon with more time will feel differnt, do it when your mind feels ready x

I had quite a traumatic experience. If it helps speak to birth reflections, they helped me come to terms with what happened. Not sure how far pp your are? I started gradually just round the area to help with sensation. Use clean makeup brush or anything else soft. When you feel ready slowly start to massage area closer to the scar

I was! I had a traumatic emergency c section and for a while afterwards I couldn’t stand the sight of it. I was actually scared of looking. BUT! The scar heals the same colour as the rest of your skin eventually and as time goes on and you heal from the trauma, you might find you feel different towards it. I’m 3 years on and pregnant with my second. Hoping my elective c section is the healing experience to undo the trauma I experienced first time round. Hope you’re ok xx

@Victoria wow did you want to at all try for a vbac ?

I’m 4 months pp and still feel like this. I just started going to physical therapy for my pelvic floor and they’re also working on helping me get the feeling back where I have my scar. I mentioned that I don’t touch it, or like looking at it and the doctor said that’s super normal. She told me that rippling in the skin is common for women who don’t touch their scar and thankfully I didn’t get that, but if I would have known that I would have started working on massaging my scar sooner

My babies 25 weeks and I still don't often look at my scar. I don't like to touch it and I really don't like anyone touching anywhere near it. I'm a huggy person but I avoid hugs now because that can cause it to be touched. It has gotten in the way of my love life, my husbands great about it all.

@Porcha Grigsby I would love to but my first baby was so big that her head couldn’t fit in my pelvis to engage and I have a feeling this one is bigger 😩

Honestly, I was the same after my emergency section and didn’t do any scar massage really (I think I did maybe 3 if that), and I wish I’d done more. I’m now 13 weeks pregnant with my second (my daughter is 16 months old) and the stretching of my scar tissue is quite painful, so I wish I’d done more for my scar earlier on! I didn’t want to look at mine for a while, however was so surprised at how well it heals. Do your massage when you feel comfortable and like you can - the few times I did it, I just didn’t look and went in blind 🤣
