Hi. I’m just posting what I did as it’s helped me and I took advice from my cousin who also did it. I didn’t want to do any form of cry it out…. So went with the pick up put down, and sat with my boy till he slept. For a week I was sitting with him multiple times in the night for upto an hour. He was looking at me and falling asleep. When he woke up and saw I wasn’t there he would cry. I then decided to do the Ferber (as my cousin did ) but chose not to do larger leave gaps and only ever 5 minutes. Night 1 he cried 50 mins to get to sleep (with me in and out but not picking up) Then another hour cry session 1-2am. In between he woke and murmured. Night 2 he cried just 20 minutes (intervals of 5 mins) when putting him down. Then again woke in the night and fell back asleep. Night 3 he cried when I first left the room for 2 minutes and fell asleep. Then I heard him wake 2 times in the night but self settled himself. Since then he has a 2 min protest when I leave the room ….

But then sleeps all the way through. He may wake but falls asleep himself. So I’ve done Ferber with small 5 mins left only. In 3 days he’s now sleeping and wakes up happy! I too didn’t want to do any crying methods. But it’s worked for me and I do t think at all in the short time I’ve “taught him no one is coming so sleep from helplessness” …. Which was the criticism… It’s everyone’s choice what to do. But I know this does work with most babies. I told myself or we got past 4 nights and he was crying loads I would stop. But he didn’t. He cries so much more when in the car seat driving….. if anything g that feels worse than the sleep training but I can’t not drive 😜

I did Ferber method with my first. With my second I have followed the blissful baby expert on Instagram and did a zoom on self settling which has been absolutely life saving for us. Only cost £15 I think and I would recommend to anyone having sleep issues

I did CIO - with a help of a sleep consultant - and it does not mean that your baby will cry for hours and hours. I sleep trained my LO when he was 6 months old after waking up every 1.5hours since the 4 months sleep regression. He is 8 months old now, i put him down to sleep in his cot, he cuddles a toy and falls asleep within 5-15mins without crying. He sleeps through the night from 7pm-7am.

@Becky hi, how did this differ to the Ferber? I’m expecting plenty more regressions (age and teething etc) so was warmed you may need to retrain at some point. X
