Sterilising bottles in hotel

We plan on going on “holiday” when baby is around 6-8 months old. The hotel won’t have a microwave to sterilise his bottles and since we’re going by train I don’t feel that I can take his steriliser with me as there will be a lot of suitcases we have to take too. Does anyone have any idea how I can sterilise his bottles without using Milton or a microwave?

Can you buy a plastic tub and Sterilising tablets when you're there?Just use cold water x

@Rachael we were told we can’t use sterilising tablets in the hotel as having a bucket of water around could cause damage to either their carpet or furniture. The only other space would be the bathroom and I’m not comfortable doing it in there when it’s unsanitary

You need to just buy a foldable bucket - you can find them on TikTok shop for cheap use the hotels kettle and sterilising tablets and just do it all in that bucket xx The hotel will never know

Cold water sterilising tablets. Sterilise the sink with hot boiling water and after that just fill it up with cold water pop the tablet in and pop your bottles in☺️ There’s also Milton soap you can use x

I wouldn't be bothering to sterilise at that age anyway

@Rebecca If using formula bottles need to be sterilised until baby is 12 months old x

We took the portable Nuby UV sterilised. You can pack it with bottles and other baby bits so that it’s not really taking anymore room in your suitcase than what you would have needed for those items anyway x

Milton do an individual bottle steriliser? Its like a flask that just fits 1 bottle at once. You use standard Milton tablets with it (just 1 quarter at once). Stays sterile for 24 hours too so you can just pop the bottle in when you take one out?

When I went on holiday with my LB I got told you can get sterilising bags I never looked into them as I took my sons steriliser x but may be something to look into

We used a big plastic sealable bag and Milton cold water sterilising tablets. Worked just fine!

When we've been away I take the steam steriliser with us. Not sure how a hotel would react but do they need to know? They're rather bulky to travel with though

I just cold water sterilised in a lidded tupperware container.

@Julia I know that's what the NHS "guidelines" say, however 6 month old babies put everything in their mouths, so common sense says otherwise! Washing in hot soapy water and rinsing thoroughly is more than adequate that that age.
