Is this an okay set up?

The other day my daughter showed me she can get out the cot so I have put her cot into a floor bed, I have taken the coterpiller off as it just keeps falling down(didn’t do that in cot) and pink bunny is there for decoration during the day, is there anything I should change here? Little girl is 11 months and crawls and walks Tonight will be her first night in the bed so any advice would be appreciated thank you 🩷

I would definitely say put something on the handles to the drawers and make sure they’re bolted to the wall, she could pull on them and it could topple over, be prepared for the books to get ruined, I recently put my daughter in a bed and she’s ripped every single book in her room 😭😭😭 and I’d remove the things from the windowsill until she’s a little older if you don’t use the change bit on the drawers I’d keep them safe on there xx

@Bean thank you, the bookshelf is mounted to the wall as for the drawers the wardrobe isn’t however, I am going to add the locks to the drawers before bed, the windowsill in the picture has stuff from sorting her bed last night (she stayed at her grans) just the box of books on there which she can’t reach as it’s pushed back, thank you xx

I just wanted to say what a beautiful room 🥰

@shanna thank you 🥺🥺

what a beautiful room!🥰 once the drawer locks are added i think it will be good to go

Beautiful room, but I wouldn't recommend having a bed against the wall. There is a risk they can get trapped between mattress and wall. If you can, can you leave the wall side cot side on?

Definitely anchor the dresser to the wall, especially if she pulls up on things to stand up

With the recent earthquake, I would remove the pictures from the wall. It’s a lively decorated room♥️

@Becka unfortunately the way the cot bed is can’t have the bars on while in bed mode, I was going to do that originally, the matress is pushed right up against the wall as it’s her first night I’ve put her in thicker pjs and not a sleeping bag so she can move more if needed obviously we have the monitor on facing her also xx

@Abby thank you🥺 added them on after bath time🥹

My child chews his books up and they clump in his mouth (the cardboard ones) so just be careful of that 😅

I love it

It looks lovely! The bed guard though isn't recommended until 18 months.

Babies should be in a cot with bars on the lowest setting until around 18 months, but are you saying she can climb out of it even on the lowest setting? For safe sleep babies shouldn't have anything in the bed with them until this age. SIDS is still a risk until a year old. All furniture should be anchored to the wall, window should have a restrictor on it as well as ensuring she can't climb up onto the window ledge at all. As others have said, drawer locks too! Make sure any cords are covered and that there's nothing that's a choking or strangling risk in the room at all. Hope this helps!

@Rebecca I do plan to remove this in a week or two as it’s a floor bed but want her to be used it it then will remove it is only temporary xx

@Sarah yes, the cot was at the lowest setting and she would do pull ups and lift her leg over the bar, and she tried to get out the the travel cot at her grans as well, she only sleeps with her comfort teddy and dummy in the cot, any other teddy is decoration through the day, her camera wire is out of the way and she can’t get to the windowsills (yet anyway) thank you very much this is very helpful, will go over her room tomorrow with all the extra information and double check everything xx

@Liah Wow your baby must be super strong!!! I'd advise sending the photo of your set up to the Facebook group Safe Sleep And Baby Care - Evidence Based Support (150k members so you know you've got the right one), the admins are extremely knowledgeable and helpful (and at times extremely anal which means they never miss a safety concern).
