C-Section Mamas

How did you guys handle the pain and uncomfortable feeling? One side is more sharp feeling and it is so sore! They said it’s Normal as it’s fresh wound and stitches etc, but trying to walk is WORK🫣 What have you done to help ease it more? I’m not sure what pain pills I’m being sent home with yet but so far I’ve had morphine and that’s when I was going to sleep so by the time I woke up to try to pass urine etc it had worn off 😭😭

They should've given you morphine for the pain. You can alternate advil and tylenol with it. Switch every 3hrs. So at 12am advil, at 3am tylenol, 6am advil, 9am tylenol and so on. Take laxatives to bc that can just gum up your system which will also cause you pain. Honestly just keep walking and that helps a lot. And if you can get a compression belly band that helps keeps things from moving around

@Christine they gave me a couple morphine tablets earlier as I’m still in the hospital! And they gave me a little bit of liquid laxative to help soften everything when I’m ready to go! It’s just one side that hurts like a sharp pain but they said it could just be where they’ve pulled the skin tighter as everything looked fine etc. I’m hoping in a couple more days I start to feel a bit better x

I alternated my pain meds like person above said and made sure to rest as much as I could, and abdominal binder really helped me with my pain as well. Helped me feel like my organs weren’t falling out

As others said I alternated pain relief, but they didn’t send me home with anything. I did paracetamol and ibuprofen 2 hours apart throughout the day. The first few days are tough especially with having a newborn but take advantage of all the help you can, get people to do nappy changes etc, and bring stuff to you so you’re not getting up and rest as much as possible. Don’t overdo it, you’ll feel loads better after a week or so but continue to take it steady, no heavy lifting other than bubs. It’s normal for one side to feel more painful, my right side used to feel like it was going to come open! But apparently it’s where they stitch it extra tight (there’s a name for it but I forgot). I’m 4 weeks pp and feeling really good, able to get out for fairly long walks and do a lot more around the house (although still using it as an excuse to avoid the hoover haha) x

One side will always hurt more because all the knots will be on one side from the stitches. I also had more pain one side because I had a collection of gas that side x

I got sent home without any pain meds so had to go buy paracetamol and ibruprofen that they recommend. My advice is stay as hydrated as you can it will help with healing and get up as much as your body will allow and do small walks for 1 to 2 minutes at a time. It does hurt and I even found it hard to stand completely upright without my back hurting but each day it will get better

Girl I’m in the same boat right now😭 had my baby in the fourth

Hold a pillow on your inscision while walking as the pressure helps

Walk for at least 15mins a day, take painkillers like paracetamol when it hurts not every-time, so you don’t get used to it. Drink lots of fluid, morphine’s side effect can be constipation, so take laxatives if using morphine. Get help from family to take care of baby, while you are recuperating in 2 weeks you should be up and running.😊Cheers well done mama

Did they give you a belly band that was heaven sent for me. I ended up having an infection which made the pain 100 times worse but I thought it was normal so keep that in mind if the pain doesn’t ease up in a couple of days. Doc said the side the surgeon is on is always done tighter and hurts more.
