I would just buy a cheap pushchair that can collapse into one. You can bring it to the gate. I would say some airports make you carry your baby and can collect your pram with the luggage. A carrier would be beneficial. I would dress your baby for the location you are going to before you board the plane and have a blanket for them for boarding / on the plaine. Change their nappy too… it’s no fun on the plane. Can’t comment on formula as I EBF. You can bring pouches etc in a clear plastic bag you would put your liquids in. You can also purchase things at the airport and collect it. That might help with hassle?
@Lesley would I be able to bring Ella’s kitchen pouches and pass security?
Yes I think they have to go in the clear bags you put your liquids in.
We went to menorca a few weeks back and all went smoothly! We took our usual pram up the gate then it went in the hold no problem (bought a pram bag so it didn’t get damaged) Formula tubs we had in checked luggage no issue We were able to take boiling water, rapid cool, formula ect through in our hand luggage just as they are (they test everything) x
@Hollie does the testing take extra time? Would you recommend to arrive to airport 3 hours earlier? We also have checked luggage?
Where are you flying from? Manchester security takes absolutely ages in the family lane 🫠 we went to Majorca in September. We took a flask of hot water, and 4 bottles (1 empty and 3 with measured cooled water in) and used the hotshot method. I just took formula for the plane in the dispenser pots. Every bottle has to go in a machine separately and there’s only 1! It took forever to get to our turn. I brought a stroller (my £1500 pram was NOT going on that plane! 🫣) and a carrier as you don’t always get your pram as soon as you get off the plane it’s usually at baggage claim so it was useful getting through border control etc. I’d also suggest getting a cheap travel kettle or some descaling tablets for the hotel one as you don’t know when they were last cleaned!
We got there 3 hours before hand but you go through the priority part so it was maybe 20-25 minutes, would recommend if you want to get lunch in the airport before the flight to go earlier if not 2 hours I’m sure would be fine :)
Most airlines take whatever pram you have, some specify it has to be one part or fully collapsible etc but not all. I’ve never bought one specifically for the cabin, I’ve taken my travel system, a travel stroller and a double pushchair on holidays without an issue. Yes, you can have tubs of formula in hand or hold luggage. I took formula through without an issue, didn’t personally take water so can’t comment on that. And yes, you can usually keep your pram right up until you board. I’ve always taken a carrier/sling as well though- it’s easier to board a plane not having to hold baby, being able to carry other stuff. And easier at the other end too whilst going through security and waiting for your pram to be unloaded
