Colostrum

Was a little disheartened - been trying for days to collect colostrum and got nothing but then today I got 5ml, 2.5ml each side 🤩 Currently 38+2

Look at that liquid gold! Beautiful!

Do you have any tips? Haven’t been able to get any yet x

@Emily I used my hands first few days to stimulate the nipples then used a pump (which isn’t recommended) but once I saw the yellow coming through I gave it another go properly. They also say after a bath / shower is a good time x

@Emily look it up on TikTok, they have some really good tips on there. Once you’ve got ur first few drops and mastered the technique it’s so much easier and rewarding! ❤️ it also helps to massage ur boob or do it after a warm bath or shower too xx

I barely got drops and it was so frustrating, I was worried breastfeeding would be hard because of this… but my milk came in after day one and now baby is 3 months and breastfeeding is going well, no pumping and baby sleeps through the night.

That is amazing work 👏

@Tash I used my pump, so it fell into a bottle and then just got it from there

I might give my milk collector/haaka a go in a week or so. Pump or touching nipples isn't recommended not to cause uterine contractions but closer to labour I might try 😬😬🙈 The other day I had a long hot bath, massaged each breast for good 10-15mins, was nice and relaxed but all I got was leakage which was impossible to collect to syringe or even drip it from the nipples to a silverette. So absolute waste of colostrum and waste of time and made me feel terrible 😵‍💫😵‍💫😬👎🏼 Thumb up for each of you who perservered because I am just put off and disheartened big time.

@Gabi it’s my second baby so I’m happy to have early labour, get out girl 🤣👏🏻 awww honestly I was disheartened too but then today I was amazed I got so much. Deffo keep trying cos it’s the best stuff for them when they arrive, my first born didn’t breast feed but managed to give him all the colostrum I collected
