Echolalia

Is there any kids who initially had echolalia or delayed echolalia and later went on to speak well and communicate well ? My 3 year old has delayed echolalia .. currently am focusing on increasing his vocabulary but sometimes i become sad and hopeless.. wanting to hear success stories ..

Hello, my son is 5 and on the spectrum and also has echolalia and palalia, he also has started to stutter and it yes it all worries me and frustrates me but I jus kept listening and talking to him as usual, his vocab has got better he talks alot now, it makes me sad also when I sometimes think about how he'll struggle and when he decides to stop speaking and all this but jus keep trying, your his mum I'm sure you have the patience for him and it'll soon get better as he gets older. It will be ok. So just keep talking to him, reading, playing all that involves speech and in time he'll grow out of his echolalia

Also when my son was 3 he was totally non verbal, he's 5 now and most often is non stop with his speech

Thanks Fatima.. may I ask if your son who speaks non stop actually is communicating with you or others? To express his needs..

He speaks to everybody only here and there he'll stop talking but yh he talks to everyone. Like he has no boundaries at times but that's jus how he is

Sometimes if he needs something or whatevr he won't say it at the time and when he comes home he'll have a meltdown about it

That's great .. as parents thats what we need.. it gives hope .. I really wish my son also communicate with us one day.. thanks for sharing about your kids..
