Induction at Kings Mill Hospital

Can anyone on here tell me about their experience being induced at Kings Mill? What methods to they use? How long did it take? Good or bad experience? Also can anyone compare it to a spontaneous Labour was it more painful?

I got induced using the pessary first, they didn’t put it in properly the first time so had it taken out and re put in the next day. Didn’t see much progress with that, so then I had the hormone drip that ramped things up pretty quickly had my waters broken too (can’t remember the exact order which one was first) but I didn’t react well to the drip and neither did baby so ended up in an emergency c-section. Was on Day 5 in hospital by the time the section happened then 2 days after before getting discharged. Not the best experience but everyone is different and I know a lot of people with positive induction experiences ☺️

I was induced at King's Mill back in March. They used the pessary with me. I went in on Friday afternoon and my little girl was born on the Sunday at 4:38am. The first pessary was in for 24 hours and I didn't progress, they put another one in on the Saturday morning, I got fed up of waiting and took it out on the Saturday night and my contractions really ramped up and were really intense. I begged them to give me a c section and I signed the forms to have one on the Sunday morning but my daughter didn't want to wait around 😂 I was in labour for 6 and and a half hours in total and I had a natural birth with a third degree tear, pain relief I had gas and air and pethidine in my leg, both worked a treat! Overall I very good experience and the whole midwife team are brilliant, you are well looked after x

@Olivia thank you! Ah glad all went well for you in the end. I ended up with an emergency section last time and really hoping to avoid it this time but ik it’s massive risk with getting induced 😭🫶🏻

@Parker thanks for the reply! Wow that’s so quick omg🤣 was it painful from the get go? Also what did you think to the pethedine? I had a baby there in October 2023 & they could only give me diamorphine then & omg it was intense!

I felt the contractions but they weren't that bad, as soon as I took the second pessary out, it got so much worse! After having that for about an hour, I felt a pop in my back. I was checked at 6 centimetres, because I was stubborn and I didn't want the midwifes touching me, then an hour later I was 8 centimetres, water's broke and then she was born not long after that. I was pretty out of it because of the gas and air too, but they both were great. The most annoying thing was that on the way out, my daughter spun round and gave me a third degree tear, very painful recovery but well worth it! Good luck! X

I got induced may 23, with our little boy. I had the pessary and with 24hrs he was born. I had a really good experience, from start to finish 😊 I got induced the Friday evening & got sent home Sunday afternoon. I was in active labour for 4.5 hours, I only had gas & air- worked a treat.
