yeah I did think this, as soon as she gets in the car she’s fine I’m just dreading the pick up bit cause she just gets so upset
Is it you or is it because they have to leave nursery? Our 4 year old has been going since 3 and we often have days where he doesn't want to come home. I see it as a good thing because it means he's settled and happy
Following as I currently have the same situation with my LG. She is 2.5years and only started nursery about a month ago and goes for only 2 half days. She is super anxious to go to nursery in the mornings, tries to persuade and plead with us not to go and then we have a few tears at drop off. We get feedback in the day saying she's settled and having fun and some pick ups have been ok but some she has quite big melt downs. I thought it was because she was angry at me for leaving her there. But I agree with other mums who mentioned it's such an overwhelming experience for them. Our nursery suggested that she takes something home from nursery so she can show it to us (a book, teddy or picture) and is something that she takes back...we're going to try this to see if it helps.
Are you quite early to pick up? On days where I can get away from work a bit earlier my boy cries at pick up because all his friends are still there and he doesn’t want to leave whatever they are doing. If I get him closer to closing time he’s happy to see me lol x
@Bethan yeah it’s because she has to leave but she screams and says she doesn’t want me!! and puts her arms out for the workers she’s only known for a couple of weeks, I’m glad she’s having fun but really breaks my heart
@Chelsea I pick her up same time and the others maybe I should wait till the end!
It could be over whelming for her, like an overload of emotions because u came back. It’s so common in nursery, until they’ve settled x
