Here’s your signal to sit your baby on the potty!

Now? Yes, now! We had our first baby back in January. In May, we were slightly ceremonially given a potty by the three year old across the road with the statement ‘potties are for babies, not big boys like me’. Sat our 4mo baby on it that day, just to see what would happen and voila. Wee straight away. Sat her on it the next morning. Poo. Sat her on it again… wee. We’ve been sitting her on it every time we go to the toilet, and as a result we’ve not had a poo nappy since June. Go on, give it a go. It’s a convenient place to sit them when you’re having a wee if nothing else. Can always save the potty until training time if it doesn’t work. Normalise it as furniture.

My baby will not sit still. How long do you keep on her on there?

That's great!

@Alicia maybe 5 minutes? Easily distracted with a bath toy!

I second this!! My boy has been going on the potty since he was 4 months old. I looked into elimination communication and thought why not get him used to it. It's worked really well for us. Would fully recommend trying x

Amira wouldn’t believe you🤣🤣 (inside joke about some girl here that said potty training before 2 is unrealistic and she called me names because I said my mum started potty training me when I was 6 months and a couple of cultures do that).

This is interesting 👀 I think I will look into this.

There's a book about it called Diaper Free Baby by Christine Gross-Loh and some Instagram / YouTube people too ☺️

I got her a potty 🙈 it ended in a bit of disaster wee everywhere because she decided she wanted to lay down instead of sit up literally shot herself back 🙈 will probably try again soon though this was a couple of months ago

Really wanted to try this this time, I gave it ago a few months ago before bath time but he’d never go. Maybe I’ll try again. He’s obsessed with trying to play with his sisters potty so he’ll probably be pretty happy to sit on it.

This is the sign I think I needed because I was really keen to potty train and wean off dummy by the time my boy is 1. Potty training I want to start doing as soon as possible especially after the news about 1/3 of children going to primary school in nappies and still using a buggy x
