Playing

How does your baby play with their toys or what do they do when they are 'playing' by themselves? My boy picks stuff up and walks about with it, like he picks up toy cars or cups walks them to another spot and puts them down, throws them or bangs them on something and starts again. He has great motor skills and is able to stack cups, put things inside (eg toys in a basket or nesting cups etc) and push toy cars on the floor but he doesn't choose to play like that, he just runs back and forth with stuff. Is this regular/normal 'play' for young toddlers? He's 13 months

Yes very normal!

Able to stack and nesting cup is amazing! Mine can’t do that yet. He likes to play with a ball and kick it about and chase/shuffle after it. (He can’t walk yet). Or in a lazier mood he presses a particular musical toy and dances to it Sometimes he opens the drawers and empties them or pretends to clean the floor with towels 😂

Play looks different in different children 😊 my first born didn't play with toys, she just found random objects but loved soft toys. This time round my youngest loves a huge variety. We even have a box of hats, gloves, socks, headbands and she loves putting them on 😆 her favourite thing to do is probably put loose objects toys into boxes, under the seat in her ride on car and other places. She also loves little board books she can 'read' by herself x

Its very normal 🥰 have a look at schema stages of play, it explains the moving things around (transporting) etc
