What's your thoughts

My son, who is 10, had a flip phone, and it started having issues, so I asked his dad over the weekend to get him another. I asked for him to get another flip phone, but he gave him an old smartphone he had. So my question is, is it appropriate for a 10 year old to have a smartphone?

We got our 12 year old a smart phone. Previously he had an old style phone however he never charged it so was a bit pointless. Obviously you will need to restrict his access on the internet and things he can access. My son’s phone is connected to my oh so every text, photo and video my oh can see.

My son has an iPhone. I just have parental controls on it

My 10 year old son has a Troomi phone. They are cool because the whole thing is pretty restricted, so it’s nice to feel safe(r) with him having it. We had actually originally bought it for my (severely porn addicted) ex husband after D Day because of the restrictions on it. Of course (like ANYTHING these days), there ARE ways around it, and my son is highly gifted and talented (formally identified, I’m not just bragging 😆 It’s DEF a double edged sword!), so he of course figured those out in short order. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thankfully he’s also a pretty honest kid and told me pretty quickly. Once we switched the music player on it, it’s been pretty good since then.

I have to room to say anything because my kids dad gave all 3 of our kids iPhone not the newest ones but the smaller ones. We have access to their accounts. We know what they’re watching at all times and we can restrict their time usage on their phones at any time.
