How to potty train a non verbal child?

My child was officially diagnosed with severe autism at 10 months. She is none verbal and unable to communicate in any way. I potty trained my first child at 18 months old as I intended to with this child however shes very complexed and I’m unsure how to even begin.

Try not to rush her into potty training if she’s not ready to. 18 months is still quite young and with her additional needs, she might not be ready to. When the time is right I’d start by using the actual object, show her the potty/ toilet. Then you can move onto visuals. ALB (aided language boards) are very good for stuff like this. You can print off laminated pictures to create a visual timetable and a now/ next board too. For example, now - trousers down, next - sit on the toilet. ALB’s are good because they’ll have all the pictures and you can point to the one you want her to do. I hope it all goes okay xx
