My Baby has speech delay during to have 3 languages in our family. She also says a couple of words but my health visitor said I shouldn’t be worrying till she is about 3 years old after 3 should be worrying. Do you and your husband just speak English or there is more languages around your baby? And yes my mother in law and my daughter dad’s great grandma was saying that my girl isn’t developing as she should , she may have autism and etc. honestly I wasn’t listening them and I did tell them if they say anything about my daughter again they can forget about seeing her, after that they stopped I told them what my health visitor said and they haven’t said anything anymore. That is rude what your sister in law did , she can’t be saying this she doesn’t know if your child is behind or not she ain’t a health visitor or a doctor. You know your baby better. As I know not every baby talk when they are 2 some babies pick it up later on. I was worrying about my girl but now I just stopped xx
Thanks so much for that xxx
@Anastasija yes we speak English and Portuguese so that makes sense xx
I’m going through the same thing. I speak mostly Portuguese to my son since he was born and then started introducing English as well so he could understand basic instructions etc at nursery. He understands both languages now but says mostly words in English. Reducing screen time to a minimum is doing wonders for us. Also got some magnetic letters and numbers so sometimes we just play abc’s and now he recognises some letters. We had the 2 year review with the HV a few weeks ago and because I’m concerned about this delay we’re having another review just for speech in 3 months to see if more support is needed
Have you had his two year review yet with the health visitor?
