Any moms with an autistic toddler???

My 2 year old is on the waiting list to be evaluated for autism. The waiting list is six months or longer and she’s only been on it for almost 2 months . I strongly believe my baby has some sort of autism. I get so overwhelmed because at times I feel like a mom who can’t handle her own child . She walks on her tippy toes , she rocks side to side sometimes . Shes a VEEEERY picky eater. Shes CONSTANTLY repeating herself . She hits when she’s upset . She flaps her hands when she’s upset . She has trouble falling asleep. She gives no eye contact when she upset . She likes to line up her toys when she’s playing. And the list goes on . I have a 16 month old daughter as well and I think some of my 2yr olds ways are rubbing off on her . Are there any groups specifically for moms with autistic children? What are signs your baby had? What happened after your baby got a diagnosis? How do you deal with meltdowns? ANY ADVICE WILL TRULY BE HELPFUL PLEASE AND THANK YOU !!!

I have a toddler on the spectrum. We were able to get an evaluation relatively quickly. I'm not sure what state you are in though. There is an Autism Parent Support Group on Peanut. Here's the link to the group - https://www.peanut-app.io/share/jR2lD6hpUNb

Hi there! My son is 2 1/2 and re recently just got a diagnosis! He was born 3 months prematurely so that increased his chances but we arent sure that was the main factor that led to a diagnosis. I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to discipline him and also teach him when i havent had any experience with it. He tends to be extremely bipolar when it comes to meal time some days are really good and others are like the end of the world. He has a very hard time with tantrums because they are everyday multiple times a day and nothing i do seems to help. He really does prefer to be alone and only comes and plays with my other 1 year old son on his terms. Its hard enough that he will not make eye contact or respond to his own name but his main thing is sound snd always covers his ears even if its quiet. We really have tried to utilize the the therapies the pediatrician suggested and finding a good support group for us as parents as well. We have to just let him do what he has to

do within safe limits to express his feelings snd we will wait until he is finished them move on, its so hard to sit there and watch and not be able to do much. Trust me it gets better!!

My 2 yr old has been on the waiting list for at least 6 months now. He was late walking and talking. He throws fits where he will hurt himself. He's picky, too, bc he doesn't like the consistency of certain things. I had him working with early intervention, and it has helped him a lot. They only work with children up to age 3. Best of luck!

@Jordyn same with my baby with tantrums and playing with her sister . When she has a fit , most of the time idk what to do so I’ll tell her it’s okay to be angry and it’s okay to cry so you can cry in your room alone and come back when your done . it works sometimes . She exactly the same when it comes to playing . She gets upset when it’s out of her terms . It’s like she has supper hearing. She tends to hear noises that others don’t normally hear. She’ll ask what’s that sound . I don’t hear it so I’ll have to stop what I’m doin to listen to my surroundings extra had . I’ll then hear it and think to myself how did she hear that !?!?

My son is 2, we’re on the waitlist for an evaluation and speech/social therapy. I had 1 place call me to with a recorded line stating to call back and set an appointment. I’ve called over 30 times left 1 voice mail. It’s upsetting we can’t get answers sooner.

On another note! YOU CREATED SOME BEAUTIFUL BABIES!!!

She's such a beauty! Do you have early intervention near you? I used them for my feb 2022 baby when she was a year old. They cme twuce a month to work with her. It's a wonderful service you can use till a proper assessment. All the best to you!
