Tightening all day, but not sure if labor is close. Should I wait or get induced?

I'm 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant, but there's no sign that baby girl is coming anytime soon. 😅 My midwife said I'm 2cm dilated, but my water hasn't broken and I haven't lost my mucus plug. The last couple of days, I've been getting tightening pretty much all day. Does that mean labor is close? Not sure if I should keep waiting or get induced. What do you think?

I lost my mucus plug loads and didn’t have a “show until about an hour before I gave birth 😂 honestly it can just change so quickly I waited until 42 weeks and honestly I’m so happy I did, I had a natural labour in the end. The choice is 100% yours but I personally did not find induction ward a calm labour inducing place. If it helps in France so not a million miles away your not full term until 42 weeks 😂 due date is just an estimation x

Just wait! Induction is soooo much more painful 😩

I'd recommend waiting if you're otherwise OK, and it sounds like your body is getting ready to rock and roll! Induction is a medicalised solution to fit a schedule, and while it can be successful (and necessary for some), it often leads to a cascade of interventions. Check out Sara Wickham on FB or Insta. 😊 I went to 42+3 before my natural delivery and so glad I held out! I had contractions the day before which ramped up overnight, and only on the day did my body go right, plug out, waters gone, let's go. Past 40 weeks is tough, but hang in there mama. ❤️

My recommendation is to avoid induction!

I was 40 + 4 when I had my LO. I didn’t loose my plug or nor did my waters break. I had a sweep at 40+2 and my contractions started about 20 mins later. I went in with reduced movement on +4 and they didn’t want to send me home and said they would induce me if no changes later that morning (contractions, only about 3cm but meds weren’t touching my pain). Midwife broke my waters for me. He was born 6pm that day. I’ve heard inductions aren’t great but I was all for getting him out as I was bored waiting.. although I didn’t have to go down that route, you do what you think is best! Good luck x

I went from 2-4cm in 2 days after lots of walking. My water didn’t break until 9cm dilated so I wouldn’t wait for that lol I was in the hospital when it happened. My labor started like yours I was getting Braxton hicks like crazy and more frequent so I went to the hospital I was 4cm but they sent me home. The next morning I went curb walking for like a mile morning and afternoon. Still had Braxton hicks. Around 4am that night my hard contractions started. I stayed home waiting for my water to break. Never had a “mucus plug” come out. With both my previous pregnancies or maybe I just never noticed? I stood home for a few hours and then my grandmother decided to drive me to the hospital and they admitted me at that time at almost 7cm dilated. I had my baby that same night. I would say do lots of curb walking that really helped me speed things up. There are ways to move things along as far as going into labor (sex, stimulating nipples) I looked on google and did the walking. 🤞

I was induced at 41 weeks. When they checked me I was 2cm. We walked all round the hospital grounds, I had my waters broken, 5 hours later baby was here. I didn't need any other interventions. The contractions came on quickly but actually it was so much better than my first labour which went on for 36 hours. I was nervous to be induced but it was a positive experience for me
