Moving house

Any tips for moving house with a 1 year old? I’m dreading the logistics of move day and looking after my baby and navigating naps etc?

We recently moved with our 1 year old and honestly. Try and find a sitter. There's so much to do and just the worry of something falling on my little or her getting hurt was enough for me to get someone to watch her for a day so we could move all the big stuff.

Same as Jess, try and get someone else to watch LO while the main move is happening. Its just not worth them being underfoot when someone has a heavy box or bit of furniture and it causes an accident.

We’re moving this weekend! I’m taking mine out for the day to do parks and stay and plays. If I catch him right when he’s ready for a nap and put him in the stroller he’s good for falling asleep then we’ll have me luck for a 2 hour walk. We’re getting friends and movers to help sort stuff out and thankfully my lb has been fine with all the boxes around - I started packing over a month ago He’s left with a canvas zip up bag of toys (from flying tiger £2 and holds like 20L) so I let him play with it and then know it’s easy to pack up

We moved on the 11th Oct. My parents came up to look after our LB. He napped in their car on the way over to the new house and then continued to nap in there whilst the unloading happened! Definitely get help where you can, it helped us to just focus entirely on the move. Good luck! It’s worth it once you’re in 😊

@Hattie @Jess you’re right, we’ve sorting out a sitter with some friends now and I feel a lot better knowing she’ll be happy and safe and we can focus on the move x

@Meagan awww good luck with your move. You’ve got a great plan there! Sadly we haven’t got movers but have family here helping out. Did you leave a few clothes and toys out? I think I’ll pack a little case. Hope he settled into his new room ok and you all settle into your new home. I’m definitely going to flying tiger, love it there so thanks for the tip! X

@Ruth aw thanks so much! We have family helping, it’s definitely needed. We went over to clean the house today, it just seemed so surreal and bare so looking forward to getting our stuff in and make it our own. Wishing you lots of luck in your new home xx
