I'll just tell you what I do with my 5 and half year old. I think create a routine, so she knows what to expect every single night. I put him in bed at the exact time every night. I read him a story and I stay next to him until he falls asleep. Then I have a clock in his room with colours. I tell him he can get up at 7 o clock not early at 3am or 5am. I also do a sticker reward chart. Think about as adults, we do our jobs properly we get a bonus. If kids are good we can reward them. I have the sticker chart where he gets a sticker for helping clean up etc and at the end of the sticker chart he can have a small toy. If he acts up I do tell him I will remove the sticker. This seems to be working for me.
I have a 5 year old girl who is going through and ADHD assessment. She is the exact same it's exhausting. I suggest keeping pushing with the dr. No matter how many times you have to go back. I currently use magnesium and melatonin gummies from amazon. Completely safe and so far are working. Also I make sure that all sugar and anything that can make her hyper are stopped 2 hours prior to bed and give her a safe space to relax where her sisters cannot get. Normally she does colouring. Also consistency put to bed same time everyday. This included weekends and holidays. It's boring but it will help with routine. Hang in their mumma, you can do this x
@Aimie I’ve done literally everything they’ve suggested to do, but nothing seems to be working. Do you have to sit with your daughter to get her to sleep? I’m struggling so much right now to get her to sleep! I’ll have to get in touch with the Hv again and see if they’ll help xx
Not anymore I don't. I used to but since I started the 2 different gummies. She seems go off herself now. I do one when she's in from school and 1 at dinner and by bedtime she's relaxed. It's not ideal but when her little sister was born I needed something and I found that. Keep pushing. I went to the Dr 16 times in 18 months. They will listen eventually xx
Contact Cat at Noah’s nighttime’s on instagram. You can tell her I referred you if you like. She’s amazing and changed our life. x
Does she have enlarged tonsils? If they haven't already get the gp to check/ refer her to ENT. It's common for children with throat problems to wake in the night and I'm sure i read there's a link between adhd traits and enlarged tonsils/adenoids because they're not able to concentrate properly in the day with the lack of sleep. My friends daughter had hers removed and still has issues and now sleeps with a cpap mask at night and she's improved loads. She's also 5 &1/2 and never slept properly until this got sorted this year and she's like a different kid x
