He needs to hear those words. Maybe someone speaks like that to him ? I will be alarmed . Speak with teachers . Ask your child if someone is not nice to him .
I’m not into the gentle parenting too much. I think there is a time and place for it and it’s not in this situation. I would draw a thick, red boundary line with it. I’d make a big deal out of it with huge consequences and a 15+ minute lecture with 5 minute lectures throughout the day after it. Reminders over the next week throughout each day about why it’s wrong and why you deserve respect. What respect is and is not. It’s all about repetition and the consequences being severe enough that he dare not bump against that guard rail again.
@Christie I have no idea, I don’t talk like that about anyone so this baffles me. He is in kindergarten so I don’t know if other kids talk like that?
@Dana I have asked him where he learned to talk like that and he just says he doesn’t know. But will then turn around and say he’s joking at times but this still leaves me confused and I remind him he can’t talk like that because it’s not nice and can hurt others feelings
