@Melissa unfortunately friends or family aren't an option as we live an hour away, and obviously I won't be able to drive for 6 weeks. I'm not wanting to take the risk and have a bath before my wound will be fully healed, but wondering what others have done in this situation
I had a pico dressing after my C section which meant no shower or baths until day 7 when it was removed. I managed on a strip wash at the sink and used dry shampoo on my hair. Bit different to your circumstances but thought it might be helpful to know x
@Chloe that's helpful to know, thank you x
I was in this exact position too!!! I had to run a fairly shallow bath and then kneeled in it using a jug to pour water over me and wash like that, I did this for 5 weeks. Annoying but like you say no point submerging your wound before it’s fully healed x
@Carris thank you for replying. I think I'll have to do the same x
I used a shower head attachment on our bath taps and had a sit down shower in the bath
I took sponge bath( wet cloth baths) for 7 days until my stitches felt good enough and believe me this time my recovery hd been much better than last time when i took bath daily with shower after c section since my stitches were dry and healed faster, you can try that
This is a tricky situation, but maybe, if it's tenable, you could use a family member or friend's shower, or even the gym? It wouldn't have to be every day. At worst, I would opt for using a wet washcloth to clean yourself without actually submerging the wound. A bath before the wound is healed is definitely not worth the risk. I've known people who have become infected and had to carry around vac machines to keep their wounds clean for months on end. Infection really extends the recovery time considerably.
