Tantrums

Is anyone really struggling with their 13month old? I honestly felt like I was close to a breakdown yesterday.. for a good few months the tantrums and screaming is getting worse. She seems like such an angry unhappy child. Have I done something? She goes into one if she doesn’t get what she wants, if you try redirecting her to something it’s a war. Throwing things that she doesn’t want like juice, food, toys. Hitting and slapping. The list is endless. Going into fits of crying which nothing will help calm her down and yesterday this could have went on easily 1hour without stopping. Is anyone else experiencing this or should I be worried?

I’m in the same boat, my 13 month old girl is just non stop tantruming! You’re not alone, I have had multiple breakdowns 🤣😅

Hi lovely. My 13 month old is the exact same! Think it’s just a part of their development. They are growing and learning so fast and full of such big emotions! 😅 xx

We're experiencing tantrums and top of the lungs screaming but I've noticed it seems to be (at least partly) out of frustration - LO knows what they want but can't tell me which must be so frustrating! Plus they don't understand why we're not letting them do what they want e.g. solo climbing the stairs isn't safe so there's no way I'm going to let you do that = tantrum. I'm hoping once language skills start to develop more the tantrums may lessen a bit! 🤞

I heard that Sing & Sign classes are great for helping little ones learn baby sign language so they can start to communicate and ask for things using simple gestures before their spoken language skills develop which can help ease frustration. Might be worth looking into (the classes are lovely and fun either way and the wee ones will love the songs!) and there’s no doubt lots of versions or similar videos on YouTube if there aren’t any classes in your area?

Yep same here, our LG is 14 months next week and the tantrums are off the scale sometimes. Worst is when she wants to feed herself with the spoon and we try to help her she has a meltdown! Changing bum as well, being told no the last is endless!
