Holiday

So me and my partner are getting married beginning of December and going to Edinburgh for 4 nights with little one. What would other people do?

Follow your baby’s lead. We travelled when my daughter was 6mos and we basically ignored her sleep routine but she was still young enough that she fell asleep when she was tired (even at a very loud fiddle concert with lots of stomping and shouting), and it didn’t seem to have an impact on her sleep overall. She settled back into her routine when we got home. We travelled again recently with her at 16mos and she has way too much FOMO now and won’t sleep on the go, so we planned our days around naps and bedtimes for the most part.

As baby is still little, I’d be flexible. ☺️ I know they’re all different but I could be flexible up until a certain age with my daughter and then had to stick to a strict bed time

I will still be sticking with the bath before bed but think I'll be more flexible with when. Thank you!

I would say depends on the age. If your child is a toddler you maybe don’t do yourself a favour not sticking to bedtime routine 😂

@Anne he will be days from being 6 months old when we go

Is anyone going to say congratulations?! Lol. @Rhiannon is totally right. I couldn’t believe the things my baby slept through before her first birthday. I could keep her routine by putting her in her carrier for a nap. Congratulations again! On a beautiful beginning to marriage!

@Genesis thank you 😊 I'm just worried if he won't sleep enough or fall back into the pattern

It would be an absolute monumental waste of money to go to Edinburgh to try and get your baby to sleep at their normal bedtime, I’m a local - trust me!

@Lauren I think as long as we get back to the hotel for 8 I think that's a good goal as we will be up early anyway

How does your baby do when they skip naps? Are they OK or turns into a madman? If your baby manages to sleep in the buggy, even briefly, I would take them to explore the city. If not, you could plan quiet stops around his nap time.

@𝔾𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖 he often takes longer naps in his pushchair when im out and about so naps will be fine I think
