Daughter still not talking

It's breaking my heart, I feel like I've done something wrong. My girl has just turned 18m and seems really behind with her speech. She will say Ma and Da and will say Doh instead of Ta. She makes lots of noises, is conctantly babbling or just sort of grunting. She does have a lip tie which the dentist said could cause delayed talking. She has perfect understanding and physically responds when we ask her things like sit in your chair, blow kisses, high five, put in the bin etc. I'm literally in tears worried that I'm not doing something. She's not in nursery, we go out several times a week, baby groups, soft play, the park, I talk about what it is we're doing. Everyone I bring this up to says 'dont worry, she'll talk when she's ready' But it's so hard seeing the frustration on her little face when I ask her to repeat something, she turns red, flaps her arms and gets so upset. What more can I be doing?

My little boy is 20months old and he's exactly same, he hardly says any words

Can you get in touch with your health visiting team for some reassurance? It sounds like she has amazing understanding and is making noises and saying Ma and Da is great - they all have their own timelines 💜 with my daughter if we don't understand her we ask her to show us, as she gets frustrated too if we don't understand xx

My little girl is 18 months and is much the same. She's constantly babbling and understands instructions. I wouldn't worry to much, they are all so different x

Thanks for the reassurances all, health visitor said she will arrange a home visit and do an assessment. She suggested taking her to SEN classes but the workers at the class literally said 'why are you here? Shes still so young!' It's just hard when you hear other mums saying 'oh I cant get mine to stop talking!' I am desperate for that, to hear her little voice asking non stop questions.

Mine is exactly the same. She can point out different animals when asked, wave, give hi 5s, can point out her hair, teeth, nose. I feel the same don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I read, sing to her, play and speak to her all the time. She will run through to the kitchen and say yum yum when she’s hungry but won’t say anything else, it’s frustrating.

I didn’t speak till I was over 2 I didn’t even babble as a baby and I turned out fine . I was in speech therapy and all that etc. Once I started speaking i suddenly came out with all the words 😂 I’m like this now I won’t say something unless I’m 100% sure on what I’m saying haha xx I wouldn’t worry personally as she understands what you say to her she just hasn’t mastered the tongue movement yet but once she does she won’t stop đŸ„șđŸ„°

Im really confused by this post (in the nicest least judgemental way) My little boy is 18 months, babbles none stop and understands simple commands but my friend who’s a health visitor says they don’t ’expect babies to talk’ yet. Just as babies aren’t expected to walk at 9 months but some babies do. They’ll talk when they’re ready! It deffo isn’t a concern❀

My little one is in exact same boat, have had HV out and she has no concerns. Said that she won’t refer to speech and language at this stage as they know children all develop and different levels and are only majorly concerned at 27months. Yet I have seen other parents on here get referred now. I’m in Scotland and not sure if there is a difference in England. Hope we all have little chatter boxes soon đŸ€ž

My little girl is the same. I wouldn't worry too much xx
