Could it be she’s not hungry? I had this with my 12 week old and realised she just wasn’t hungry and didn’t need to feed as much as she gets older
Thank you. I suppose it could be. She normally feeds just before bed at 9.30 but she has definitely taken less in the last few nights. She now wakes at 5 which is amazing! Then feeds quite a lot on/off till 8. Poor little thing just had another episode, she seemed to want to feed but as soon as she started to suckle she started crying and going all stiff again, i tried loads of different holding positions until she had a big fart and she gradually stopped crying. It's taken 20 mins for her to fall asleep on me again..
I've been experiencing similar. I think my boy could actually have colic looking at the symptoms. My lo is nearly 14 weeks and has bottles twice a day, though he hasnt experienced this before. Maybe it's worth seeing if it continues the next few nights and talk to your health visitor. I hope it's not 🥺
We had a very similar experience when our daughter was a couple of weeks old. She has reflux but also found out we were overfeeding her which made her be sick more and constipated. We thought she always wanted more food, she actually just wanted to be soothed so we gave her a dummy and it works wonders.
@Gem thanks, very interesting! She did just feed now and asleep on me. I've been trying to just feed on demand! How do you know how much to feed yours?
@Claire we get her weighed each month and then based on that and what the formula pack says we work it out (this is what doctor told us to do as we were overfeeding). She is 5.8kg so we multiply that by the 150ml bottles she is meant to have and then gives us a total. We normally go over a bit but she's spreading out her feeds and getting more into a routine so it's getting more manageable
@Gem really interesting! Mine holds her poo for 7-9 days and has since about 8 weeks. But it doesn't come out hard, it looks like korma sauce lol was yours the same?
@Claire oh god that would make me panic. Our poos regularly like every 2 days but it's a solid dry lump and she is in a lot of pain passing it.
@Gem that sounds painful! Poor little one. My GP said not to worry as it often happens with ebf babies
Just to add, it has actually coincided with her starting to sick her fingers/hands in the last week or so
