EBF feeding every hour

Is anyone’s 3 month old still feeding every hour in the day time? He’s EBF but I’m wondering whether to give a bottle of formula every now and then to ensure he is getting what he needs as I’m worried by feeding so frequently it’s because he’s always left hungry? He comes off the breast on his own accord and doesn’t seem to go for any more once finished but he is such a frequent feeder. I can pump to top up but I haven’t as of yet as I have a low pumped supply of around 2oz each time

Sounds like the 3 month breastfeeding crisis I went through same thing with my little girl. He will be getting enough from you I wouldn’t worry

It won’t last forever

They just want to feed constantly it’s a crisis because it’s where a lot of women end up giving up because of the constant feeding they think their baby isn’t getting enough

My first baby fed hourly - 2 hourly day and night until he was like a year old. Breastmilk is easily digested and regular feeding is normal. As for top ups the average output alongside breastfeeding is as little as 0.5-2 oz both breasts combined so you’re actually on the higher end of average with your supply! If you’re topping up 2oz should be enough. A breastfed baby at any age shouldn’t have more than 3-4oz in a feed (0.5-1oz per hour) as breastmilk changes composition (fat content etc) to suit babies needs in that same volume. If you feel like you need to top up then you can but I wouldn’t worry about only giving 2oz it’ll be plenty if he’s breastfeeding regularly too x

Breast milk is processed in their body so much quicker as it has very little waste product and so much goodness! So yes bound to be hungrier quicker, and sounds like he’s cluster feeding which is totally normally. I wouldn’t worry about ‘getting what he needs’ - your breast milk is perfectly tailored for him 🥰
