Potty Training - going backwards/ constipation

My LO is almost 3, should she be fully trained by now? I’m really stressed out with this. So we’re fine on wees on the toilet, no nappy during the day, no accidents and no wetness while she naps. I haven’t even started on no nappies at bedtime. BUT She has trouble with constipation and will NOT do a poo in the toilet. Only her nappy. I try to tell her no and encourage her but she’ll just hold her poo in even more. So I end up putting it on her for her poos. She actually cries for it if I don’t give it to her. I’ve tried showing her poos go down the toilet etc loads of encouragement but nope. I just feel like I’m going backwards and am in this battle with potty training and constipation. I would love some advice and reassurance it’s okay that LO’s aren’t potty trained at 3. 😩🫣

My little boy is 3 next month and we have only just managed to get him to do two wees in the potty today and yesterday.

My little boy is 3 in Nov and we only started training this week. I have no experience with this so feel free to ignore but I’ve seen a lot of praise around the no pressure approach and have even seen it advised to allow poos in nappy if they ask/seem upset so I think what you’re experiencing is quite common. I’ve seen some people say their little ones refuse to poo on potty until they find a private spot (e.g. behind curtain or something) to place the potty so they feel safe to go. My little boy has been the opposite so far, will do wees happily without help but needs me to sit and distract him while he has a poo on potty so that he relaxes and almost forgets that he’s trying to poo. She will definitely get there, she’s already come a long way with being dry all day so try not to worry :)

My daughter is 3 soon and been doing wees since last November! But poos she was holding... And would hold for weeks, she wouldn't even do it in the nappy... We had to take her the Dr's for some movicol to help her go as they was massive and hard which caused more pain... The last 2 months she has finally started going on the toilet and not had no issues with her holding any more! It's hard but go the Dr's and get help... Its psychological

Same situation here. Don’t stress and try not to stress your little one out as that won’t help. As long as they’re trained by the time they start school then you’re fine. Increasingly parents aren’t toilet training their children before school age.

So my little ones very similar to @Jen we’ve been doing wees on the potty since May, but he will only poo in his nappy. We had lots of constipation and we’ve been on movicol for 2 months now. He’s no longer withholding poo, but I’m not pressuring him at all, it will take as long as it takes. He wears a pull up whenever he says he needs a poo and he never wees in it. I really would recommend no pressure and loads of encouragement no matter how small the progress x

Hello, my little girl is 2 and is out of nappies, she told me her self around 4 months ago she didn’t want nappies on anymore and wanted to go bed with pants on she has been doing amazing and no accidents I tell her no more juice after 7:30/8, and she does really well, my daughter was the same refused to go poo but she eventually done it in her own time and now I can’t get her off the toilet!!😂😂 but try keep showing the toilet or potty etc and reward after doing such an amazing achievement during the milestones xx
