Night feeds!

We are combination feeding, when it comes to formula any advice on the best quick and convenient way during the night? Looking at the rapid cool but how long does the water stay hot enough to prep a bottle? Any help would be appreciated. 😊

I am using kettle in my room for warming water because my kitchen is downstairs

I use the rapid cool but head downstairs to make it. Initially we had bought some of the ready made formula which was obviously easier but costly! You could potentially use one of those for night feeding though? I think my friend had a perfect prep machine in her bedroom as well but I’ve not got that far yet lol xx

Also our little boys share their birthday 🥰🩵🩵

@Joanna I would not recommend the perfect prep machine. We have one and our baby boy ended up in hospital as it made him sick. Turns out it’s a common problem with this machine as a lot of babies have become sick when it’s used to make their bottles. The midwife and doctors said it’s because the machine uses a ‘hot shot’ which isn’t hot enough to kill any bacteria in the powdered formula and so it makes babies tummies upset as they do not yet have an established gut flora and immune system. Once established it’s fine to use though🤷🏼‍♀️ x

We use the rapid cool and some pre made bottles just in case, I found the flask kept the water really warm, for my first I had a digital flask which showed the temp of water so made me feel better as I knew it was hot enough to kill any bacteria

I premake the formula for the night feeds! If you make it in the bottles and put it in the fridge straight away it is good and safe for 24 hours after. I just heath it up by putting the bottle in hot water and that's it! Also tommee tippee has a travel warmer which is on amazon for like £12 at the moment. It's amazing at keeping water super hot for a long period of time so you can just grab the formula bottle from the fridge and come back to bed to heat it up if your baby is fussy or crying so you stay with her for those few minutes before feeding time 😄

@Mia ah okay! Wasn’t aware of this just know my friend had one in her room for night feeds! X

Perfect prep machine is the way forward! You could also bring it upstairs with the formula if you don’t want to go down in the night.

I prep some of the formula pots and take a flask of boiling water, I usually prep it around 10pm and it stays hot enough until around 4am and usually the next feed is around 6-7am and I just go downstairs for that one xx

We use the ready made formula bottles at night - it’s only one or two a night so we can justify the cost so I can get extra sleep and my husband can do the night feed!

Perfect prep machine. Used it for my first, couldn't have lived without it. Have two ready for this baby - I've never heard negative things about it and all my friends have used them with their babies. For night feeds, I used pre made formula carton and a bottle warmer plugged in next to my bed... Best thing is to try and get baby to take room temp formula :D easier said than done!

Really helpful advice thank you! Going to try the ready made formula bottles with a hot flask to warm up and see how we get on 😊 guess it’s all trial and error. X
