Potty training

So as LO is starting to take tentative steps I'm thinking about when to start potty training with him. I've always been conscious of telling him when he's pooing and when he's had a wee, but at what point are people thinking of starting (if they haven't already) and how will you start? (I'm thinking about when we do go all in having him wear pants and a nappy on the outside to catch wetness, but the pants on the inside letting him know he's uncomfortable - which I've heard is a good way to get them out of being used to wearing an absorbent nappy) What's your take?

Following this chat for some ideas also, I’m waiting for my little one to learn how to walk more stable and then also sit on a stool without falling.

Just start introducing it. We've been doing it for months. Sit him on it after a nap, before bath time etc, give him claps when he sits. He now walks and sits on it randomly. We'll tell nursery to sit him on at nappy changes and then it just happened with my oldest.

I won’t start till the language and understanding has come in and he can communicate his needs I won’t start till at least 2 years old if my older son is anything to go by that’s when he’ll be about ready.

We trained my eldest last year at 26 months and he picked it up really quickly, he was fully trained within 2 weeks. We used the Oh Crap! book method and I found it so easy to follow. I’d like to do it over the summer months so will probably do it next July/ August x

Only start to potty train when you know they are ready. If you start to early it can hinder the whole thing. My daughter was 2 when we started and she picked it up within a day but we knew she was ready. I won’t be looking to start with my LB until at least the age of 2 x
