We utilised both. They both had their uses.

I got a toilet seat that had a child's seat attached to it and there's a stool to help him get up and used the floor potty. He now mostly uses the toilet but the potty in emergencies

The floor potty was handy initially to get our son used to sitting on it etc but my husband and I hated emptying poo out so we quickly encouraged use of the toilet seat 😆

Toilet seat attachment with steps and handles so she could do it all herself.

So we actually had both because the only bathroom in our home is on the second floor. The floor potty we only used for a week or so with my daughter, she figured out pretty quickly to alert us before she was 2 seconds away from peeing so we haven’t needed if. I still keep it close by just in case there is an emergency.

I prefer the seat on the toilet as it’s less cleaning up, but my daughter prefers the potty for now.

My little one went on the potty like 3 times but preferred going on the toilet as she see me using the toilet. But she used the toilet training seat with steps. From about 2 and half she's always just used a stool to get on the toilet

Both

We used both. Initially my son only used the potty but when we transitioned to using the toilet he needed the seat to be able to sit independently

I have 2 boys potty trained and they went on big toilet straight, they where 3yo. Girl will be 3 in Jan and I'm still waiting for her to be ready 😁

Both. I used to take the toilet seat out until she learnt to perch.

With my son it had to be the actual toilet. He thought the portable one was just a toy. With my daughter we use both. She won't poop on the portable one though.

As a nanny I’ve found that giving more than one option helped immensely! Gives them a sense of control and choice! One little girl helped I potty train would use the toddler seat on the toilet all day long but would only use the “mini potty” before nap because she was too tired to climb up to the big toilet 😂 also, they make travel potty seats that fold up to the size of a wallet to keep in the diaper bag. Absolute game changer.

Both. We used the disposable liners for the small portable potty so we never really had to do anything besides give it a quick wipe.

We bought a new toilet seat with a toddler attachment and it was worth every penny! We use the floor potty as a stool 😂 not a fan of the floor potty bc pee gets everywhere 😵‍💫 but we might put it in her bedroom for when we wean her of nighttime diapers.
