C section info

I’m booked in for my section and it feels like it’s coming round very fast. Does anyone have any experiences to share, how long did you wait to go down to theatre? Was your partner able to stay in overnight? How long was your hospital stay afterwards?

I was induced last time, which turned csection. I was just waiting to go. i had 2 ladies ahead of me to have c-sections. My husband was able to stay overnight so he could help me with the baby, and I felt like it was a long stay, but in reality, it was only 24 hours. They release you as long as you go to the bathroom without too much trouble

I just had my second c section last sunday. It was scheduled so after checking in they took me for the surgery within 1.5 hes. Hubby stayed overnight with us and i was home the next day at lunchtime.

I only waited a couple hours but think I was fast tracked due to high blood pressure, my baby was born within 15 minutes and then about 40 mins with the sewing up but it all goes so quickly especially as you can do skin to skin. Check your hospital but mine allowed my partner to stay the whole time, I had my section 9am on the Tuesday and was discharged 4pm the Wednesday

Good luck!

I went in for an induction and after a week of trauma opted for an c-section but then it turned into an emergency on the table anyways. Try and stay as calm as you can and listen to what there telling you. You will feel very drowsy and sleepy it's normal. Your partner won't be able to stay with you overnight so when baby wakes up in the night it's best to lower you bed to level the bassinet is on so you don't have to bend. 1 night in the hospital should be normal. Accept help and rest when you can but try to move daily as it will help you feel so much more normal. Also warm showers help loads, my advice is to air dry and get a hand held fan to dry your scar area with. Hope this helps x

Went in at half 11 in the morninf didn't go down to theatre until half 4in the afternoon had him by 512pm partner could stay until 9pm then had to go home i was down the next day by 5pm x

I went in for 6am and I went down to theatre at about 12 and had him at 12.38. There were 2 people before me. My partner could stay all night thankfully but I think it depends on the hospital

I had mine at Wythenshawe Hospital a few weeks ago. There you either get booked in for morning or afternoon. I was afternoon and was told to be there for 11am. As I was low risk, I was one of the last ones and went to theatre at around 3pm and baby arrived at 4.15pm. With regards to your partner staying overnight, this depends on the hospital. It was allowed for me and if you can, I highly recommend it as you will need a lot of help after the c-section. All in all the whole experience was very positive and felt very relaxed. Nerves are always going to be there but you'll be in very good hands xxx

I just had my second c section.Booked for 10 am came 2 hours early.I had the baby @ 2:05.My partner was able to stay with me the entire time.It says about 4-5 days.I think I will be going home Tuesday.Main focus right now is making a bowel movement.

I had my section on September 5th, the night before they told me to come in for 11am. I came in 10:30am (due to trying to beat traffic). I didn’t get taken down to the theatre until 4:10pm due to higher priorities. But my husband was able to be there for the whole thing, all the way from the spinal, to the catheter and to delivery which was amazing. He was also able to stay overnight though he did go home around 1am because I wanted my chocolate bar 😂 so overall I stayed in the hospital from 10:30am on the 5th to 7:30pm on the 6th

I was given an afternoon slot, so we arrived for 11:30, were told we'd be last on the list (4ish), but ended up getting switched around with another person as they needed to be nil by mouth for longer. Because of the switch around I had my observations done in theatre rather than in advance, went in around 1:30pm, did observations, cannula, and spinal block. Once I was prepped I think she was out within about 10 minutes of the first incision! She was born about 2pm. Partner was able to stay, but it's dependent on the hospital so worth looking online to see their guidance or calling up and asking. We had a very straight forward delivery but their policy was I needed to stay 24hrs. I left about 2pm the next day! Good experience overall, it did feel a bit rushed initially but I think that was just due to the last minute switch and they were trying to keep to time. The procedure itself was great, couldn't feel a thing, had a wonderful experience of seeing our daughter for the first time.

Recovery was tough, but if you stay on top of your pain meds you should be fine! My worst day was the first day home because I'd lost track of the time and was playing catch up with pain meds. Look at creating a bit of a schedule for when you get home that doesn't take you over the max dosage of anything you're given, but spaces the meds out nicely so you're always topped up. Take the first few days really easy and try not to over exert yourself! Week 1 was hard, week 2 was easier, I'm in week 3 now and barely have any pain and can walk easily ☺️
