Potty training

What did you do to successfully potty train? We're currently in rented accommodation with carpets so going nappy free isn't an option.

I had great success by just waiting until she was really ready, then she basically trained herself, she had 3 accidents the first day, 2 the second day and none after that. No need for being naked, staying at home, making her sit on a potty, rewards etc etc. My biggest advice to anyone would be not to even think about it until they are close to 2 and a half. Everyone I know who has tried early has had months and months of it or stopped and started.

I totally agree with Lisa, it was same with my daughter. She is 3 and she recently two weeks ago decided to go to the potty by herself and she only had few accidents in 2 weeks. Before she refused to go potty and suddenly she is just potty trained.

Agree with @Lisa . Pretty much the same scenario with my daughter.

Them taking the lead also comes in hand w/ them being exposed to it. I started exposing my son at 18 months to his small potties & the steps to toilet to get familiar. Taking them to the toilet to dump a solid poop from nappy into toilet and teaching them to flush it and depending on boy or girl, my husband would let him observe when peeing. I was really loose on the experience in the sense of not stressing out too much & waited till he started leading. Sometimes I would take him to sit for a few minutes. Every time I needed to go I tell him mommy needs to go potty. My mom gave me the tip when sitting them on potty u can pour some cold or warm water on private area to help give the sensation of getting them to pee. Putting underwear underneath nappy in day/cloth diaper at night will help get them to feel wet to start making some connections. My son just turned 2 & yesterday/this morning he started taking lead to potty. U can hangout enclosed in bathroom w/ LO bottomless for 30-1 hr

Same as Lisa but my little girl was a few months shy of 2.5 years. She was More than ready. Also I found when you make that decision, don’t go back to nappies. We are now week 3 and only wears a nappy for bed. We had a couple of tantrums wearing it for a nap so just use a towel underneath her.

You can clean carpets!

@Scarlett I know and we do but our landlord is ridiculous. Thankfully we are moving in December but we don't want to risk it

Tbh most of my daughter’s accidents happened on the sofa! 😵‍💫 maybe wait until after you’ve moved then!
