Not talking?

Had our 15 month checkup with the HV today and she made me feel like absolute shit that our baby isn’t saying any words really. I just think he’ll get there in his own time! Seeking reassurance that we aren’t the only babies not talking yet 😩

My little one is 15 months and isn’t really saying works at all other than Mumma dadda dog, car x

My boy said mumma for a few weeks and then stopped , I know I do a lot of reading singling and talking to my son so if they tried to make me feel like poop is be telling them and making them feel like poop, every child is different and they need to stop comparing x

My little boy is 15 months and he says some words but only I would know what he's saying because it's still very much babble. Do not let her make you feel shit. Every baby is different and they get there when they're ready. I work in a nursery and honestly, there's still 2 year old that don't speak x

Are there any other signs? Do you think his hearing is ok?

@Joana he is babbling, and can say mama (with intent) when I say bring me your ball / book etc he does so straight away so his hearing is fine and he is babbling just not saying actual words

My son hasn’t said any words at all (including mama dada) but thriving in motor skills x

@Jacelyn yes he’s “above” his motor skills so I just figured he’s concreting on those and talking will come in its own time. I’m more annoyed at myself for letting HV get inside my head, I wasn’t bothered before! If I saw this comment posted by someone else I’d say hey don’t worry mama! 🤦🏻‍♀️

My LO doesn't say any words at all. She makes lots of noises and is very chatty but no words. The closest is dada but even then she'll say it even when dad isn't there. Don't worry, I'm a teacher and always say children develop at their own pace and we can't rush them. It's so hard when you're the parent not to worry though! Also, I didn't say my first word until I was like nearly 2 apparently and I'm fine 🤷🏼‍♀️

My little boy is almost 16 months and only days mamma (sometimes), dada and uh oh (and that’s new in the last week). I’ve been super worried but I spoke to his nursery and they said they don’t even start to worry until 2 and the professionals they use will see them at 2. Like yours, my son has great motor and personal skills so i think they just have different skills! I take relief that he understands most of why I say to him. Peanut is great but I find the posts saying “my child is only saying 15 words. What do I do?” really hard to read!!
