When is it ok to bathe a new born?

I am super confused on what will be the right time to get my new born to bathe? Still in my 4th month but curious to get all these answers.

We only wiped with a wet cloth (not full bath) until the umbilical cord fell off, making sure not to wet the umbilical cord :) but some families do it differently for sure

You can bathe baby as soon as they lose their umbilical cord scab!

You CAN bathe them immediately, but you have to be super careful until their umbilical cord falls off. So a lot of people wait until then just because it’s easier. The first couple months with both of my babies, I only actually bathed them like once a week, slowly increasing until they’re 6 months and eating solids and crawling.

Bathed mine at 5 days with umbilical still attached

Bathed mine as soon as we got home on day 3.

I waited 2 weeks but wiped baby over with cotton wool and cooled boiled water. As the other comments say, it’s usually recommended to wait until umbilical cord has fallen off and dried out, but it’s not bad to wash them before hand as long as you’re careful and dry all areas after. x
