Have you unlocked negative memories in adult hood that you suppressed from childhood?

I recently done a domestic violence course and I was left broken, I've been abused at every stage of my life, sexual, physical, exploited, emotional. Everything I learnt resonated with me personally. Finally it makes sense why I am the way that I am. How can you just forget such significant things from the age of 3 to my early 20s. What do you do with everything you've just unpacked?

Almost everything traces back to childhood. I journal.

Yes. I don't want to go into detail but it seems I witnessed something bad happening to someone else. I did a kind of psychotherapy where they take you back into the moment and you kind of offer comfort to the little kid you were when no one else did. And make the ending different - like go tell my mom what I saw. You'd need a therapist to take you through it though.

Yes. Constantly actually.

Suppressing traumatic memories is your brains way of protecting itself, though it tends to cause other issues like depression and anxiety which is tricky to deal with since you’ve forgotten the reason you feel that way. Therapy can definitely help
