Scar help

Hello! C section Mummas! I’ve just had my dressing removed today (day 7) Any tips on keeping it clean and dry etc? I feel really vulnerable without the dressing! And worried about it rubbing on my over the bump pants 😅

I used a pad (maternity pad) to cover it for the first few days - just pressed lightly against it just don’t stick it in just have it sat in your pants. When showering pat it dry don’t rub it just be gentle and you’ll be okay x

The only thing I found that helped to keep it dry was lying on top of the bed a couple of times a day if you can of course to air it out, also I picked up some gauze from the chemist and place that under my overhang when I was feeding my LO and knew I couldn’t get up to dry it or walk about. It definitely helped x

i used a long gauze i also wore really aired out sweat pants i felt very vulnerable as well and uncomfortable but im 3 months pp now and doing that worked wonders for me try not to itch it if it itches i lightly rubbed around the incision sight not to close but close enough to release the itch from healing

Shower daily, let water run over the scar and just rub over very gently yo clean. dry the scar with a hairdryer on cool setting to make sure its completely dry! Any moisture is not the greatest!! When you can, lay and air out the scar! It does wonders x

Keep it dry especially after shower and remember to clean it daily, just water on a cotton pad, simply pass it over and then pat it dry. It's normal to feel vulnerable at first. Do not let the scar get wet, if you can keep it opened to the air is better (maybe when you are lying in the bed just simply roll your pants a little down and let the scar exposed to the air) the more you cover it, slower will be the healing process. Don't put any cream or moisturizer on it and don't shave yet.

I often pat mine dry with kitchen towel as it’s softer than a towel
