Sorry I hate virtual therapy.

Every virtual therapist i tried gets extremely distracted by home life, internet is spotty. One of my therapists watched her 4 month old and nurses all of my sessions. Which is like fine if yoy tell the patient before hand but she was never making eye contact, always interrupting me to feed and I felt like I never had her attention. Everyone says people can work from home just as productively but as far as therapists go, no.

One time she paused my appt for 15 minutes so she could lay her baby down for a nap who had been screaming our entire session and had the balls to charge me full session price.

I've only done virtual therapy once and it was fine. She was professional. I just stopped because it was expensive and my insurance wouldn't cover it. If it was a one off thing like they had an emergency sitter issue I'd try to be understanding but there's no way she can be effectively counseling people when she has a 4 month old at every appointment. That's so out of line I'd probably complain to her company or whatever if she has one.

It can take a while to find a good therapist! I’ll recommend this lady Amanda. She does virtual and in person (if you live in the area). She really is a gem. She takes most insurance. The best way to contact her is through the below link, however she may see you through a different portal for insurance purposes if you need it. https://headway.co/providers/amanda-smith-5

I fucking hate virtual therapy. Also phone calls for therapy, I hate it, Even with my therapist I had for over a decade, I fucking HATE it.

I see my therapist virtually and I think the key is to have someone who is professional. They should be meeting you as if you were in their office.

@Rachel so the first time i was fine with it because I thought her sitter canceled or something. But then it happened every session for like 10 sessions and she never asked if I was okay with it.

Maybe try someone else. I had therapy over the phone and found it helpful. She was 100% focused though.

Thats crazy! Sorry this is happening to you. Virtual therapy may not be the issue here but it’s how your therapist is operating when she should be giving you her undivided attention. I’ve had virtual therapy that was extremely helpful. Please talk to her and make it clear that you are not feeling supported and that you are distracted by the constant interruptions. You are paying for these and she’s taking advantage of you. If her behavior doesn’t change she should be fired ♥️

I have speech therapy for my son virtual and I am now feeling it but trying to stay positive

You might have to try another therapist. Not all are like this. I had one that was at home with her toddler who obviously needed attention. It was annoying having to pause in between at times. Now I have another one and she doesn’t do this she’s very attentive. I’ve only heard her dog bark once or twice but she didn’t have to stop or anything .
