Biting

Not sure how to stop this, but just to say your not alone my little one is 17 months and he’s been doing it for a while now. Especially to me and my partner not all the time but if my partner lays on the bed he will go to his belly & do it or if I pick him up say if he’s not allowed somewhere and my arms near his mouth he will do it so your not alone xx

She Could Be Teething. But When My Son Did That I Definitely Popped Him In His Mouth.

My boy went through this stage and did end up biting another boys fingers in nursery (tbf, the other boy put his fingers in his mouth...) but after that, I started saying "no biting only licks or kisses" whenever he went to bite me, and that's worked great! There was one time I didn't catch him quick enough and he did end up biting again, but not hard enough to leave a mark. Now he doesn't bite at all! (Unless I'm trying to check his teeth and I stick a finger in his mouth 🤣)

It’s a developmental thing, please don’t punish them for it. Just say nicely ‘I’m not going to let you bite me’ and move away

It probably feels quite nice especially if their teething. Try and replace it with a toy, more away and repeatedly remind them.

Tell him “no biting, it hurts” and move away. We also would say “ouch that hurts. I’m sad now. No biting” etc. we did occasionally do the fake sad/cry which he reacted to. I know many don’t like that approach but it worked. It didn’t last long with us and luckily he didn’t do it to others. He did it to my mum once but that’s all. Keep on saying no. Use a tone aswell to learn the no is a “bad” word.

Same here, we use “we don’t bite people, but we can bite toys or food” it only really works if I have a toy or something she can bite handy otherwise I end up shouting 😫 those little teeth are daggers!

My almost 2 year old does this bites and he will only bite me and no body else I thought I was the only mum this was happening to thank goodness I’m not alone

My little girl did this at that age. The only thing that seemed to work was me fake crying and being “upset” as she didn’t understand the verbal communication and found “no” funny. She stopped quite quickly.

Not paying attention worked for me. She has done it for a week or so and forgot. See if that works for you..
