Potty Training

I need advice, So my girl can take herself to the potty when commando. As soon as we put her training underwear on, she completely forgets and treats it like a nappy. Even when regularly asking her if she needs the potty, she'll say no, but then still wets it (she uses pull-ups normally) How can I get her to stop going in her training underwear? Or should I just use normal underwear instead?

I think it’s trial and error sometimes, they are all different. I went straight for normal underwear because I knew my boy would take comfort from anything that was absorbing as he would see it as a nappy. After wetting his pants a couple of times on first two days he grasped that he needed to run to the potty so it worked well for us. Might be worth a try, you can always go back to training pants if you feel that’s better :)

Tried training pants with my LG and it felt too much like a nappy to her so she would just wee in it every time. We put her in regular knickers and she had a couple of accidents but hated the feeling so very quickly got used to going to the toilet instead. Sounds like your LG is on the right track, good luck! 🙂

Thank you both, I have a feeling normal underwear might work with her 🤞so I'll try that. Such a minefield all this potty training 😂. I know it'll be worth it in the long run!

@Izzie it really is, I felt very nervous about it all before I started. I knew I wanted to go straight with pants but thought there would be mess everywhere but it really wasn’t as bad as I thought. It does sound like she is on the right path if she can go to the potty commando so got my fingers crossed for you she finds it okay with normal underwear too 🤞🏻

I never used ‘training pants’ went straight to knickers as I felt the pants just caused confusion. Yes we had accidents but she soon learnt that the accidents in her knickers was uncomfortable and not “natural’ whereas I feel the training pants feel and are treated more like a nappy. But every child is different and some good stories with the training pants
