Pumping once a day - best time?

My baby has been exclusively nursed for almost 3 months but I need to introduce a bottle soon as I have a weekend away in March and need to get in a new routine plus her being able to take a bottle from dad. She’s currently up every 2-3 hours feeding in the night. Mornings are chaotic because we do a lot of baby classes and need to get ready. She tends to have a long afternoon nap most days.

In the night is when the most milk is produced x

In the night

Any recommendations for doing that when she already feeds every 2-3 hours all night?

What I personally do is have her on one boob and have an electric pump on the other and usually I can get 120-180ml out of just one boob during the night! Depends on how you feed, do you feed on one boob at a time or both?

Good call! I usually switch every other time but if she’s really hungry I’ll put her on both

@Dana do you keep a mini fridge in your room or anything to store it?

Yeah I alternate every feed too but I know that my boobs get very full in the night so even if I pump and have her feed on the other one, they’ll be full again by the morning. No I just take the milk and put it in the fridge once I’ve finished feeding and put her down

I usually do the suction haaka with every feed during the day cuz I hate pumping lol

I pump first thing in the morning to get the benefit of the breastfeeding hormones still circulating in my body from the night, I can get about 170ml per boob that way and don’t have to faff around with pumping of a night, if I do it in the afternoon it drops to about 90ml x

@Favi I wish I could do that! I’m not an under producer because she is gaining weight well but I basically don’t even leak. Hardly get anything without a proper pump. And I hate pumping

I pump first thing in the morning. When I was having supply issues and establishing my supply, I would pump around 3am/4am as prolactin levels are highest. But it was obviously disruptive to my sleep. Honestly you get used to being organised in the morning. I don't drive and have baby classes that start at 9.30am (30 min walk). I pump as I'm getting us both ready, I can brush my teeth, wash my face, change and dress her while pumping. Another idea is to pump on one breast when you feed on the other. I honestly find that awkward though.

Aww I'm sorry I was the same but I talked to a lactation consultant and was able to get help but still hate it lol
