TW: mention on stillbirth, - - - - - - - I’ve had 2 inductions there, the first one was with my son who’s heart had stopped at 31 weeks, I was given the peasary (labour had already ever so slightly started by time I’d gone in) the first one a midwife did it, it’s uncomfortable but bearable, the room I was in didn’t have gas and air for some reason, if asked for it but they didn’t end up giving it to me, with my second I demanded them to induce me earlier than what they where going to as I was having reduced movements and my anxiety was so high (I’d been in for a few days due to it) they reluctantly started the induction process, this time they used a gel was was more uncomfortable than the pessary, I had a feeling my little girl was breach, I told the midwives this but from feeling my belly they thought she was head down, I was in a lot more pain than the first time to, then they came round to pop my waters at about 11pm and finally the woman realised what she felt was not a head…
It was her bum🤣🙈 so they did a scan and that proved me to be right, she was transverse (lying sideways) so I ended having to have an emergency section, this was soo much better!! Everything I said in the theatre room was listened to, they made me feel so much calmer, and even had a good laugh with them to! All I can say is if you want something you can’t be nice 😂😂 you have to be blunt and ask multiple times to multiple people xx
I had induction there and they were great, they tried their best to ensure the procedure was painless for me.
Yes I had the pessary there and it was really really painful and they only offer paracetamol until you're 4cm and can then go to the labour ward. There is no gas and air on offer in the induction ward, only for inserting and removing the pessary but not for actually coping with the pain of the contractions! Once in the labour ward it was great as I had an epidural gas and air etc but the induction without proper pain relief was hard when I've read other people here say in other hospitals they could have proper pain relief as part of the induction process and fall asleep!! Staff are super lovely there and I felt well cared for from start to finish (had my baby there nearly two weeks ago) but the induction part was unnecessarily painful in my view... But everyone reacts differently to inductions and some women don't even have pain with the pessary! Luck of the draw, just psyc yourself up for the paracetamol only while you get to 4cm in case it's the same for you. That's my experience anyway :) good luck xx
