Cots and Protection for babies

My baby bumped her head on the end of the cot as she was on all fours. Now my partner doesn’t want her in there full stop. She’s getting too tall for her next to me cot. It’s a cot that has solid wood in the ends (no bars). Has anyone got any suggestions of how to protect the little one from bumps when in the cot? Or using something similar?

Babies bang their heads on cots, it's how they learn how much space they have around them, and they get used to it and do it less. Sounds harsh but there's so many bumps and bangs yet to come, and you can't wrap them in bubble wrap, it's all part of it!! I have a 22 month old boy and trust me his head banging off the cot is the least of my worries now 😂 Assure your partner that it's normal, and that the safest option is a cot without bumpers.

https://www.vertbaudet.co.uk/breathable-cot-bumper-baby-fox-theme-blue.htm?ProductId=702300174&FiltreCouleur=6410&t=1 I used these there breathable, not sure of would be any good for your cot if you have bars on side or not? Mine has bars just on the side so every 3 bars theres gaps

It’s normal for babies to bang into the cot and they will be fine. Bumpers are much more dangerous

This is totally normal. Any kind of bumpers are dangerous - don't use them. A bumped head is much better than a strangled baby. Sorry to be so graphic but look up the deaths from cot bumpers!

He’s in for some real shockers when she starts walking 🤣. It’s not going to do any damage to her

You can’t unfortunately lovely. It’s totally normal though! Isn’t just your little one doing it. If you were to place anything in there to “pad it out” or whatever it’d be dangerous. My son has a big cot and still manages to bump his head every so often (this morning included!). They eventually learn to stop / move around less. X

Babies/children bump their heads all the time, he’s going to have to get used to it! Don’t add anything to your cot as it’s unsafe.
