C section under anaesthetic

Hi, Just wondering if there’s any mummas out there that had a c section under general anaesthetic instead of a spinal for medical reasons? I’m unable to have a spinal but I’m so stressed and sad I won’t be awake to see baby girl born/have that first skin to skin etc. Has anyone had the same and if so was it all okay? When do you get to hold baby? Does it affect bonding?

I didn’t have general anaesthetic, but due to complications during the c section I was unable to hold my baby for 3 hours or give her the few 2 feed and our bonding has been great! I’m not sure how long you it would be under anaesthetic but I had to wait 3 hours. Good luck!! Xx

I had both

i wasn’t under general anaesthetic but i wasn’t given skin to skin after my emergency c section and i didn’t see my baby for ages after and was absolutely gutted i didn’t do any of the firsts and i struggled with bonding as i thought it was to late and struggled weeks with it and i was so sore after too! but now we are unbreakable x

I went under general due to spinal not working on my emergency C-section (cat1), my son was born 7:40pm, I didn’t see him until 12:30am as I was out of it for hours🙃 I had to have oxygen as my levels were quite low. I think it took a while to bond, also didn’t help that he was an incredibly hard newborn😅 but now we’re nutters together🫶
