Grunting loudly

I have an almost 7 week old baby and around 3am she begins to grunt. Very loudly. Last night I actually realised that she was asleep whilst doing it. It can last a few hours. I really don’t think it’s Reflux. It seems more gastrointestinal. Any advice welcome.

My baby also does this and it wakes me up! Like clockwork around 4:30/5am having last fed anywhere between 10pm and 11pm. I’d been getting him up as I thought he was hungry but like you I’ve realised his eyes aren’t open, and he doesn’t continue to do it or work up to crying if I leave him for a few minutes. He’s 13 weeks but corrected age is 7 weeks. No advice from me but I’m curious to see if anyone else is experiencing this and what they’re doing

We have started giving our little one infacol before the feeds the few hours running up to the time that she starts grunting which seems to help

Same as you! He is quite nasal throughout the day but from 4am alli get is very loud grunting while he is in light sleep...it is very frustrating but no idea what it is x

I think my baby might have solved the mystery for me by doing an absolutely enormous poo during his first feed of the day 🤦‍♀️ definitely something to do with digestion in his case!

I took my little one to the docs and they gave her gaviscon which was a mistake as it constipated her for days. So I’m just riding it out! It was for an hour last night!

It's active sleep! Google it completely normal but annoying 😅

Talk about active! Ha Ha. It’s so loud!

My girl does this from around 2am until around 7am, means I get no sleep past 2am

It’s called active sleeping I’ll add some pics I was given on tips

Thanks so much everyone.

Same for mine, really intensifying after 3pm. It’s difficult to know whether he’s struggling so I can’t sleep through the grunts. Sometimes when I pick him up while he grunts he passes a big burp and then calms down. There is often trapped gas that gets released once I pick him up but then he starts grunting again in a few minutes 🥲

Mine usually does that when she’s struggling to pass gas. She’ll grunt for a while and eventually let out a fart and calm down then start all over again until she either lets it all out or does a poo 🙈
