Stuttering

Anyone experience sudden onset stuttering, my LO is 2 1/2 and suddenly this week has started stuttering over some of their words, before that they were a complete chatterbox with no issues and now they seem to have developed a stutter that happens every few sentences, looked online but can’t seem to find a definitive answer wether it’s developmental or something else, anyone else been through this ?

A speech therapist told me that it’s normal for them to have a bit of a stutter at this age as they are constantly thinking of that to say next or when forming sentences

Early years SALT here ☺️ it can be part of typical language development. If you’ve only just started noticing it I’d monitor it for a few months and if you’re still concerned in a few months time and/or if it gets more noticeable contact your local SALT service to ask for advice/about a referral. If you’re finding it hard to contact them, go via GP or HV. Some useful websites about stammering: https://michaelpalincentreforstammering.org/about-stammering/ https://stamma.org/ Hope that helps x

Just to add - if you are particularly concerned don’t hesitate to contact SALT sooner rather than later x

@Grace thank you ! She has been a great talker prior to this with never any issues and all of a sudden it is like she is struggling to get her words out even those that she used daily without any issues, the fact it has come on suddenly and quite noticeably is what has concerned me :(
