This is a great article, you can collect from 36 weeks. You’ll need some little syringes and when baby arrives you basically just squirt it in their mouth. It’s quite time consuming to collect but absolute gold top stuff, so go for it. Good luck! https://www.nth.nhs.uk/resources/colostrum-harvesting/
You can give them the syringes straight into their mouths. It’s very thick & sticky so best to keep it to one thing else it gets wasted. They call it liquid gold & they really aren’t lying, it’s absolutely amazing that your body can create such a thing to help baby. I only managed to get abit for my first but you bet this time I’ll be going to town when I can start collecting!! My little boy had various skin conditions when first born & that stuff just made it all disappear. Helped with any skin issues for myself too. Honestly save every drop 😂
Thanks so much! 🫶🏼
Sorry forgot to add - fill the syringes & then store them in the freezer. Can be used for 6 months if feeding or up to 12 months on skin/baths. You can also take a bag labelled up into hospital with you & they’ll store it in the freezer for you just remember to give it to them asap x
If your leaking now you can collect but don’t hand express until 35/36 weeks xx
The midwife will give you a little kit of syringes to collect. And then maybe straight out those syringes or into something else. It may not be enough for a bottle or quite thick. You should only collect/ express much later in your pregnancy, 36 weeks + and it will go in the freezer. ☺️
