Is this normal?

This is my third baby and she is turning 1 this month. Last month she had a UTI and has not been the same since. She used to love her walker so much and now all she does is throws her legs around with a look of discomfort on her face. I’ve spoken with a couple of doctors, multiple times about this and they keep telling me she is fine. She still isn’t crawling properly (just commando crawling still) and isn’t trying to pull herself up or even use her legs at all for that matter. But still the doctor is telling me she is fine and that all babies are different. I totally agree with that because my two boys were completely different in hitting their milestones too. It’s the look of discomfort in her face and the legs throwing around every time I put her in her walker or even try to encourage her to use her little legs. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I just paranoid?

Has she ever had any issues with her hips?

None that I am aware of and the doctor had a look just a few days ago and said she was fine. I’m also concerned that she might be backed up because since birth she has never used her bowels properly and has been on and off of laxatives. Each doctor has felt around her tummy and hips ect and everyone keeps telling me there is nothing wrong. As much as I want to believe the doctors and everyone at the hospital that she is fine, I just feel like something is off. We spent a night in hospital because she had a febrile seizure from the UTI and since being home I sense something different about her.

Trust your gut! You know your child better than another else. You can also seek a second opinion. Have they done any bloods on her?

They tired to get bloods and even tried with the ultrasound to find the veins but didn’t succeed and left my poor little girl all bruised

Poor thing! Where are you located?

Newcastle

What paediatric services do they offer there? From memory, I don’t think those types of walkers are they, they recommend the standing ones I think.

John Hunter, but because of my area I only get referred to Maitland hospital. I have a normal was and all my boys old ones too but when I try to get her to stand while holding her all she does now is lifts her legs up.

Hmmm… I’m just wondering if it’s hip related or still some lingering discomfort post her UTI. If you’re still concerned maybe you can get a referral for a paediatrician if she doesn’t improve.
