Saying no to baby

My baby loves doing something in the house which is really ‘naughty’ he’s very cheeky and smiles as he does it. I keep saying no or nah nah nah and move him away and distract him with a toy. But he crawls literally straight back and does it again and again. How do you say no and get a baby to stop doing something? Just keep persisting? I can’t remove the object so it has to stay.

My little girl is the same - and she finds the words no and naughty very funny 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

@Lyndsey same! Oh my word they are just so cheeky aren’t they?! I don’t know what to do 🥲 I’m hoping it’s just a phase and he’ll move on to something else soon but it’s hard haha

We are going through the same! I say no, away or aaa aaa aa. And I just get smirked at currently… or she will listen but then go straight back to the thing I said not to do 2 minutes later 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ xx

It’s a game to him now, it’s funny and he will keep doing it. Is the thing he can’t touch danger to him? If it’s not id let him, ignore then stand up and pick him up to go with you. This way it’s not a game as such and he will eventually loose interest

They don’t really have the cognitive ability at this age to understand that no means don’t do something. I also found sometimes making a big deal of no made it more of a game so I’ll just distract with another task/ game and that seems to work better x

I honestly dont think they can understand at this age, Im the same with wires and think Im fighting a losing battle lol

Same here and wondering how bad it will be with the Christmas tree going up now too. We have a tall, heavy floor lamp that he's pulled down on himself twice already 🤦🏼‍♀️ sooo no advice, sorry 😅

@Kimberley he pulls himself up on the dining chairs, pulls them out from underneath the table and pushes them across the downstairs, scratching the floor. Essentially using the dining chairs as a walker 😭😂

@Becky yeah I’m dreading the Christmas tree going to up too! They are such monkeys 🙈

@Michelle thank you, this is a good shout. He has two walkers 🙈 I redirect him to one of them each time he does it, but obviously dining chairs are more fun!

Tbh that’s not bad, I get scratching the floor but he won’t care about that and trust me you’ve got worse to come.. leave him to it a few times and he’ll give up eventually 🤣 get the tabs for the chair legs, won’t leave marks on the floor then

I personally keep saying no, sometimes dozens of times, but I always explain to him why I say no! He has already stopped doing things he kept doing
