My son does independently play so maybe bit different but I try and do things that make his brain work. Practicing words, looking at books, puzzles suitable for his age and then obviously the usual playing... he loves bricks and lego lol also going out at least once a day for a wander round somewhere whether that's the park or the shops x
We mostly just go out the house, or she plays in the kitchen sink while I cook or in the bathroom sink while I shower. She's just had a birthday and got some new toys and wants me to play with them with her all the time. But I think she needs me to teach her how to play with them, does that make sense? Like when we first got duplo I made up all these games for the figures and now when she plays independently with them I'll hear the same words and phrases that I used. I also try and stay busy myself because if she sees me just sitting around being bored on my phone she's more likely to be bored too.
Also, i have boxes of toys around the room, so train set, mega blocks, big soft blocks, cars, books, stickle bricks, mind toys, the pizza set and tea set are big hits. Animals, dinosaurs, sticker books, etc. I just rotate the toys throughout the day and ask him to help tidy if he wants me to play with him.
@Isla omg I can't have a minute sat on my phone to breathe. As soon as he sees me on it he drags me somewhere 😩
For self entertaining. -Shape sorters that have entertainment value (singing flashing etc) -Magic sand is a big winner. In a high chair with a tray to minimize mess 😅 -Colouring or stamps. - foam stickers (we got some at Halloween) foam because he can peel them himself - car/train table - Amazon fire tablet - dolls house Entertaining together ,outdoors- walks/park/beach Entertaining together at home Flash cards with colours shapes and numbers. You probably do lots of these already but this is an average day for me. When they don’t play independently it is hard going !
